Founder
Roel is an experienced Digital Accessibility Specialist with over 20 years of expertise in Accessibility and User Experience Research. Currently, at Eleven Ways, he focuses on long-term projects for public and commercial clients, emphasizing the convergence of design, development, and business while prioritizing the needs of people with disabilities.
Roel's influence in championing Digital Accessibility in Belgium is significant. He co-founded AnySurfer in 2006 and DiAX (Digital Accessibility eXcellence Centre) in 2020, contributing to the advancement of digital accessibility in Belgium and beyond. In 2018, he was recognized by the International Association of Accessibility Professionals for his proficiency as a Web Accessibility Specialist. Roel has also co-authored the Europa Web Guide, written for A List Apart and contributed to the authorized Dutch translation of WCAG 2.1.
Roel enjoys sharing his passion for Digital Accessibility at meetups and conferences. He has spoken at various events, including Fronteers and UX Beers meetups, FeWeb, IAAP, as well as corporate and government gatherings.
